As the Public Inquiry into the GCP's C2C busway scheme moved towards its close, it attracted interest from the BBC as well as the national press. Focusing on the ecological damage that would be caused by the scheme, the Guardian quoted the testimony of Chartered Ecologist, Dominic Woodfield, who told the inquiry: 'GCP’s consultants, WSP, misclassified large areas of the orchard as grassland, even though "most of the site falls squarely within the priority habitat definition”, and had “disregarded trees”, including veterans. This had “a very, very profound impact” on the BNG score, because grassland is replaceable and can be offset elsewhere.'
